Copa America – What Happened To Brazil And Argentina?
Football is a sport that keeps people glued to the television for hours at a stretch. Apart from the actual game, people love checking out various shows that analyze the performance of top teams and top players. After a tough day’s work involving analysis and research on NHS complaints claim and other such depressing matters, we all would like to enjoy a tough and competitive game of football.
However, those who were eagerly following the Copa America tournament were disappointed when Brazil and Argentina crashed out on successive days. When the first loss occurred, people were hopeful that the other team would proceed further and they would enjoy competitive football from at least one of the two top teams in the world. However, the fact that Brazil and Argentina both crashed out on penalties to less competitive teams meant that the tournament lost its glamour.
Of course, supporters of the team that actually defeated these two teams were ecstatic. However, I feel that such poor performance is not good for the game. After all, one can understand the other team playing better and defeating a superior team. However, to watch the superior team play weekly and crash out on penalties does not make sense, especially when there are so many superstars involved.
The sponsors were naturally upset because their chances of securing maximum publicity for their products and services took a hit. Brazil and Argentina have a fanatic fan following and it is not surprising that people were very disappointed with the performance.
